Nusa Penida

BALI, INDONESIA

While the snorkeling around Nusa Penida is enjoyable, it’s the majestic Manta Rays that truly make this destination unforgettable. Having these 2 metre giant rays peacefully glide a few feet in front of your mask is a surreal experience.  Avoid the crowds coming from Bali by taking a private boat from Lembongan Island which will allow you to get into the smaller feeding areas so its just you and the rays.

Getting There

Fly to Denpasar on Bali followed by a 1-hour boat trip brings you to Lembongan Island. This makes a great base for the 1-hour boat trip to Nusa Penida.

Land Adventures

Nusa Penida is home to some jaw dropping coastal scenery.  Looking down on Kelingking Beach with its perfect arc of white sand or walking across the rock arch of Broken Beach.  Perhaps it is strange advice from a snorkeling site but around these beaches stay out of the water as powerful currents and rogue waves have claimed lives here.

Destination Drink

Lychee mojito hits the spot after a hard day of Manta watching.
